Nostalgia is the bitter-sweet act of reminiscing the past. The passage of time fades a memory, yet feelings of those moments remain. The work I present now is my testament and homage to time, family, and the fortification of bonds. I use old family photos as my blueprint to give mass to the experiences and the emotions. This becomes my ritual I have practiced to express my gratitude being Mexican-American. With this act, I am reinforcing the good times and acknowledging the hardships my family has experienced that secured my existence. My work is then the testament of our family's existence.
