Matthew Chase-Daniel
Matthew Chase-Daniel is a multimedia artist who lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His photo-assemblages are montages of precisely glimpsed images from the same location, on the same day—often within moments of each other—and usually from a similar vantage. As the viewer’s eye moves from frame to frame, the aggregate image appears almost animated.
Chase-Daniel earned his BA at Sarah Lawrence College and studied cultural anthropology, photography, and ethnographic film production at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes & Sorbonne in Paris, France. His photography and sculpture have been exhibited in galleries and museums like the Western Heritage Museum, Evo Gallery, David Lewinson Gallery, the New Mexico Museum of Art, Millicent Rogers Museum, 516 Arts, Peters Projects, and the Museum of Monterey. He is the co-founder, co-owner, and co-curator of Axle Contemporary, a mobile artspace; a radio/podcast host at Coffee and Culture; curator of The Lena Wall; and a member of the Railyard Art Committee.
